Integrating disaster risk reduction into development: a challenge for the future

On the occasion of the ninth meeting of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Disaster Reduction and the first session of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom 1) to the World Conference on Disaster Reduction (WCDR), UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland will chair a panel discussion alongside IFRC Secretary-General Markku Myskala, WMO Assistant Secretary-General Hong Yan and Dr. Janos Bogardi, Director of the UNU Institute on Environment and Human Security. The discussion will focus specifically on the challenges to be addressed at the WCDR, to be held 18-22 January 2005 in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan.
